Sports, entertainment, and historical autographs can be submitted to GFA. From George Washington to Barack Obama, Babe Ruth to Tim Tebow, Frank Sinatra to Bruno Mars; GFA can handle a variety of signatures and employs forensically trained experts with a diverse knowledge and years of professional experience to examine your signatures. 

After examining your item and signatures our world class experts determine the authenticity of the signature submitted based on their comprehensive examination and analysis. A certificate (COA) or letter of authenticity (LOA) is generated if the item is determined to be authentic. In addition, the item receives a tamper evident hologram, a six digit certification number and the information is stored in our database for future verification.

  • Ink/Medium AnalysisHas the ink permeated the paper or does it sit on top of the fibers just recently applied? Does the ink used for the signature and/or writing match the time period.
  • Object Evaluation 200 year old ink has acid and actually etches the paper over time. Modern pencil drawings have graphite shine until they oxidize. Modern paper deteriorates and becomes more brittle. Brown mildew spots appear called foxing. Microscopic analysis can tell if the signature was applied recently on old paper on top of the old foxing.
  • Side-By-Side Autograph Structure Analysis The authenticator more closely examines each and every component and letter of an autograph, paying close attention to characteristics such as signature flow, style, spontaneity, letter angle, etc. Color Spectral DeconvolutionColor Spectral Deconvolution uses a sophisticated color deconvolution algorithm in 3D color space to separate or remove color components.

    Color separation can be applied to solve forensic problems such as (but not limited to, Removing an obscuring color in foreground or background, in fields of forensic document examination or fingerprint examination. Discrimination of inks in forensic document examination (detecting additions with a different ink).

A description of where the signature is on the item, a picture of the item and a brief biography of the signer and GFA’s full guarantee of authenticity. Ink analysis, Document analysis (when possible), Chain of custody of the item, background of when the item was signed (if possible). It will also include a Letter of Authenticity, describing the item, the signature, what type of ink was used, a biography of the signer, a photograph, and GFA’s full guarantee of authenticity.

Includes tamper evident hologram and LOA. This service is when you have an item signed and witnessed by a GFA representative.  This service includes the GFA tamper evident hologram, a six digit certification number, the GFA COA and the signature and item signed will be entered into the GFA data base along with the date of the signing for future verification.
